HORTICULTURAL ASSISTANT / Farmer

​

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Providing FRIENDLY, HELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE  to our customers (at the greenhouse, out delivering and at

   the farmers market)

• Pulling orders (attention to detail is necessary) 

• Loading trucks 

• Driving delivery trucks (15ft-26ft - no CDL required) throughout the Twin Cities area

• Putting down/moving of plant material (attention to detail is necessary for our inventory system)

• Other general greenhouse duties : transplanting, watering, keeping greenhouse clean​​

 

• Greenhouse work March-June, Farm Field work June-Oct

​

• Farm Field works includes: planting, weeding, mowing and harvesting. Packing and delivering our weekly CSA 

  boxes. 

​

• June - Oct ability to work 2 Saturdays a month at the farmers market. 

​

• This is a seasonal position, March- Oct35-40 hours/week (some weekends and overtime required in late April- May)

 

QUALITIES OF IDEAL CANDIDATES:

•Friendly helpful attitude. Views customer interactions of all kinds as an opportunity for mutual learning and    

  growth and approaches them with an earnest sense of purpose and a heartfelt sincerity no matter if it’s at the farm

  or on the road delivering.

• Basic plant knowledge, identification, and prior greenhouse experience preferred but not necessary. Love of all

  things plants.

• Can adapt easily and willingly to fluctuations throughout the day including: schedule;  

  temperature/weather/precipitation; and job duties

• Detail orientated and organized. Has the ability to take initiative as their knowledge base develops and possesses a

   high level of self motivation

• Show up everyday ready to work. Be able to take direction and work independently. Exhibits hardcore motivation.

• Be able to stand, bend and be on your feet for entire shift. Must LOVE getting hands dirty and sweating.​

• Capable of openly receiving feedback about how to increase the pace of efficient work.

• Valid Driver's License

• Lift up to 50lbs

SALARY RANGE:  Hourly wage, based on experience, Starting at $17/hr.
